History
Yeshiva Ohr Naftoli, New Windsor draws upon the rich history of past generations of the American yeshiva world. At its helm is the Rosh Yeshiva, Horav Moshe Silberberg shlit”a, a noted Talmid Chachom of tremendous stature, who learned under Rabbi Chaim Leib Epstein ztz”l, a prominent Rosh Yeshiva and mussar personality of the previous generation. Reb Chaim Epstein, in turn, was a talmid of Rabbi Aharon Kotler, founder and Rosh Yeshiva of the world renowned Beth Medrash Govoha of Lakewood, New Jersey. Through the close Rebbe-Talmid relationship, Reb Chaim Epstein ztz”l transmitted his standards of Torah learning, ethical values, and his special method of educating students to Rabbi Silberberg.
Rabbi Moshe Silberberg, privy to the teachings of these great masters of Torah and Mussar on American shores, brings these teachings and educational methods to his students at Yeshiva Ohr Naftoli. These students, a new generation of American yeshiva students, are fortunate to be linked to the glorious history of our past, while building towards the future of continuing the chain of our rich Torah heritage. Together with the Menahel, Horav Ahron Yosef Pitter shlit”a, they lead the yeshiva by stellar example in their sincerity and commitment to limud Torah and their emphasis on derech eretz.
